
While we're just two days away from officially celebrating St. Patrick's Day, few Detroit Red Wings fans could forget the legendary Irish jig that played at Joe Louis Arena following goals by Brendan Shanahan.
On this day in 2001, Shanahan torched the Calgary Flames for four goals in a 5-2 victory at Joe Louis Arena.

Shanahan, who was acquired from the Hartford Whalers in October 1996, went on to help the Red Wings win the Stanley Cup three times during his iconic tenure in Hockeytown.
He would later be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2013.
