During Thursday's practice session at Little Caesars Arena, the Detroit Red Wings were short a goaltender, so they got some help from a former NHL goalie in his own right.
Goaltending coach Michael Leighton, who played over 100 NHL games and over 500 AHL games in his professional career, strapped on the equipment from both Talbot and John Gibson and subbed for the injured Talbot.
It was Leighton who was beaten for the 2010 Stanley Cup-winning goal with the Philadelphia Flyers (and James van Riemsdyk) by Chicago Blackhawks forward and current Red Wing Patrick Kane.
