    The smoke surrounding a potential deal between the Detroit Red Wings and the Pittsburgh Penguins involving former Norris Trophy-winning blue liner Erik Karlsson won't seem to go away and continues to gather steam. 

    Penguins writer Josh Yohe of The Athletic recently revealed that he has often heard the Red Wings mentioned at the top of the list of teams with potential interest in Karlsson, despite his exorbitant $11.5 million salary cap hit.

    While the Red Wings have added multiple players this offseason, fans waiting for GM Steve Yzerman to make a “major” splash through a trade are still left waiting.
