The fate of the Detroit Red Wings was sealed on Saturday evening with their 5-3 loss to the New Jersey Devils.

The loss made it mathematically impossible for the Red Wings to attain a postseason spot, meaning that it will officially be 10 years since a Stanley Cup Playoff game was played in the Motor City.

And unfortunately, that's now officially the longest active drought in the NHL. The Buffalo Sabres, who held the previous longest drought at 14 years, have been the League's hottest team since mid-December, and punched their ticket to the postseason for the first time since 2011.

Will 2027 be the year that the Red Wings return to the postseason?
