Fans of the Detroit Red Wings continue to wait on pins and needles on whether their club will make a move to bolster their roster as they've now entered the stretch drive toward the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
While they've been linked to multiple high-profile names, another intriguing candidate to land with Detroit has been suggested by notable NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman.
According to Friedman, the Red Wings could be a fit for Swedish defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson, who is likely going to be moved from the Toronto Maple Leafs.
"Ekman-Larsson, I've heard that it's been teams like maybe Boston or Detroit have been among the teams that have been looking at him potentially," Friedman said.
A former Stanley Cup winner with the Florida Panthers in 2024, Ekman-Larsson has two years remaining on his current deal, which carries a $3.5 million cap hit.
