The Detroit Red Wings began their centennial campaign with a trio of three rookies having made the final cut out of Training Camp and the pre-season.

Michael Brandsegg-Nygård, Axel Sandin-Pellikka, and Emmitt Finnie all were on the ice for the Red Wings to begin the campaign, and while Brandsegg-Nygård has since been sent to the AHL's Grand Rapids Griffins, the Red Wings have brought up another rookie in Nate Danielson.

During Thursday's 6-3 victory over the Anaheim Ducks, Sandin-Pellikka scored his second tally of the season, his first point since registering an assist on Nov. 2. However, he was on the bench for the majority of the third period in what coach Todd McLellan called a coaching decision.

Meanwhile, Finnie is stuck on an eight-game pointless drought after scoring four goals with four assists in his first nine NHL games.

Do the Red Wings need to consider having Sandin-Pellikka and Finnie get more seasoning in Grand Rapids?
