Detroit Red Wings prospect Max Plante recently completed a stellar season with the University of Minnesota Duluth, and he was named the recipient of the Hobey Baker Award, given annually to the NCAA's top player.

However, Red Wings fans who are understandably excited about his potential will have to wait before his professional career begins. 

Plante announced his intentions to return to school next year

His 52 points in 40 games were good for third among all NCAA players this season.
