The Detroit Red Wings will be without forward Michael Rasmussen for the third straight game when they host the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday night at Little Caesars Arena. Rasmussen—injured Feb. 23rd against the Anaheim Ducks—did take part in the Red Wings' Monday morning practice after Sunday's off day, but per coach Todd McLellan, he's not yet ready to return to game action.
"Ras is skating, [but] he's not involved in any contact, so he's not available for tomorrow's game, and we'll see where he is later in the week," the coach said at the conclusion of practice.

In missing his third straight game, Rasmussen will match the absence enforced upon Anaheim's Trevor Zegras by the NHL's Department of Player Safety for the hit that injured Rasmussen. At practice, Rasmussen also appeared to be wearing a slightly tinted visor (as opposed to his normally clear face shield), perhaps a precaution and tool to help re-acclimate to the bright lights of the rink as he recovers from what appeared to be a head injury.
In brighter injury news, Elmer Soderblom—who only took one shift in the third period following an inadvertent knocking of heads with Blue Jackets forward Justin Danforth—was a full participant in practice, assuming his spot on Detroit's third line with Joe Veleno and Vladimir Tarasenko.
