Tuesday evening at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, the Detroit Red Wings capped their four-game Western road trip with a 5–4 shootout win over the Kraken. The win made it seven straight victories for the visitors, their second seven-game heater in just over a month under Todd McLellan's leadership.

Patrick Kane scored the shootout winner and in so doing surpassed his former teammate and erstwhile Chicago Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews for the most shootout goals in NHL history with 53. Before the 36-year-old clinched the game, it had been Detroit's youth that put it in position to win, with none of the Red Wings' four goal-scorers in regulation (Lucas Raymond, Moritz Seider, Jonatan Berggren, and Elmer Soderblom) older than 24.

Kane's individual milestone was not the only bit of history-making on the night for the Red Wings. As a collective, Detroit earned its first perfect four-game road trip since March of 1996. The Red Wings also improved to 15–4–1 under new coach Todd McLellan, tightening their grip on an Eastern Conference wild card spot and moving to just one point back of the third divisional playoff berth in the Atlantic. Suffice it to say it was a triumphant road trip for the Red Wings.
In the featured video above, I spoke further to the trip's myriad successes.
