The Edmonton Oilers have made another series of roster cuts this morning. Yesterday they sent down four players - today they send down three.
The Oilers put Ben Gleason, Lane Pederson and Raphael Lavoie on waivers. Should they pass through, they will report to Bakersfield. They have one more move to make with their defense.

There are two things that could be happening: they could be waiting for an evaluation to come back regarding Mattias Ekholm or Brett Kulak or they could be working on a trade.
It was around this time last year that they traded for Klim Kostin. A similar move could be in the works this season. If they have to put Ekholm or Kulak on injured reserve to begin the season, that would allow them to not send another player down until either of them are ready to play.

All three players who were sent down have had fantastic camps with the Oilers. It's my personal opinion that all three should have been on the Oilers roster - but merit isn't the only dynamic in play here.
