Ahead of tonight's game against the Columbus Blue Jackets, the Edmonton Oilers announced that they've placed forward Ryan Nugent-Hopkins on injured reserve with an undisclosed injury. 

Through 16 games, Nugent-Hopkins has 16 points and a -11 rating. His absence is a major blow to the Oilers offense, which has been inconsistent throughout the first month of the season. Most recently, they fell to the Colorado Avalanche by a score of 9-1. 

While Edmonton will be without one of their top scorers for at least a week, the team recently activated forward Mattias Janmark, who should provide a boost.
