Former Edmonton Oilers forward Zack Kassian has signed a PTO contract with the Anaheim Ducks.
Former Edmonton Oilers forward Zack Kassian has signed a professional tryout (PTO) contract with the Anaheim Ducks.
Kassian was traded by the Oilers last summer to the Arizona Coyotes. In 51 games with the Coyotes, he posted two goals, zero assists, and a minus-18 rating in 51 games. It was a year to forget for the 2009 first-round pick, and it led the Coyotes to buy him out before free agency.
After not finding a home in free agency, Kassian will now be fighting for a roster spot on the Ducks. When looking at Anaheim's roster, it is fair to argue that Kassian has a shot of making their bottom six. If he does, the Oilers would see him often as a division rival.

Kassian will be hoping that his plethora of experience and toughness are enough for him to land a cheap one-year deal from Anaheim. We will need to wait and see if the former Oiler can do just that from here.
