The Winter Classic takes place Friday at LoanDepot Stadium in Miami. Let that sink in. Not New Year's Day, which was the how the concept originally was conceived, the only game on the docket. Not even New Year's Eve, as what took place a few years ago. No, the day after New Year's Day. Maybe the NHL is afraid of college football, but if the event was supposed to be one of the crown jewels of the league and a standalone contest on that day, placing it on January 2 makes little sense. In addition, I know several who view the game being played in Miami as an oxymoron to the name of the contest, the Winter Classic.
Here then is my question. Has the game run its course?
