Connor McDavid seems to do something magical and highlight worthy each game. He notched five assists Tuesday, giving McDavid 31 points (12 goals, 19 assists) during an 11-game streak. McDavid is now up to 67 points in 38 games with another 100-point season a lock, barring injury.
McDavid has 1,149 points in 750 games in his career, showing no signs of slowing at age 28. Eventually, the scoring pace will slow, but will he have built enough of a lead in to 2,000 points so that if he does slow, the descent is long enough that he still hits that magical mark?
By the end of the season, if McDavid notches 70 more points, he will sit 46th in the league and need just under 800 points for 2,000 in his career. While not a lock, he has a better than even chance to be just the second person to hit that total and finish second to Wayne Gretzky.
