In the two seasons after his arrival in South Florida from Calgary, Matthew Tkachuk posted 66 goals and 131 assists in 159 games. He started off 2024-25 in a similar fashion, posting 22 goals and 57 points in 52 games. A torn adductor muscle cost Tkachuk the remainder of the regular season, but he was able to return for the playoffs, leading Florida to their second straight Stanley Cup win.
Tkachuk is expected to be unavailable for the start of the 2024-25 campaign after undergoing hernia surgery in August. Rumors are that he could be sidelined until January and maybe until just before the Olympics in February. If that timeframe is accurate, Tkachuk will miss half the season if he returns in early-January. Stretching that absence through that month, Tkachuk will have missed two-thirds of the regular season.
Drop Tkachuk substantially in your drafts to the lower part of the top-10 rounds and possibly even further.
