Nashville and Stamkos both got off to brutal starts to the 2025-26 season. Each have flipped the script, resulting in the Predators now sitting on the fringes of playoff contention. Those hot streaks may have changed the team's view on how to proceed moving forward.
Stamkos, rumored to be on the trade block, has netted 24 of his goals since the start of December with has goals and two assists over his last five outings. This streak has Stamkos hitting the 30-goal mark for the 10th time in his 18 year NHL career. His fine play is proving that he is not washed up.
Ryan O'Reilly also was rumored to be trade bait but he has said he does not want to be moved. The same likely applies for Stamkos, who would potentially be a prime target. Look for Stamkos to remain in the yellow and blue beyond March 6.
