Wolf, a seventh-round pick, 214 overall, in 2019, burst on the scene in 2024-25. going 29-16-8 with a 2.64 goals-against average (GAA) and a .910 save percentage over 53 games. Calgary believed so strongly he was the future in net they inked Wolf to a seven-year, $52.5 million contract extension in September. Wolf won Opening Night against the Oilers, stopping 32 of 35 shots in a 4-3 shootout win.

Since that victory, the Flames have lost six in a row with Wolf guarding the cage in five of those contests. In the first four of those defeats, Wolf allowed 17 goals on 102 shots for a 4.76 GAA and .833 save percentage. He was better in net Sunday, stopping 25 of 27 shots in a 2-1 loss, but a 1-5-0 record, even with questions on how good Calgary is, was far from expected.

The Flames could end up deadline sellers. If that happens, Wolf will likely struggled to notch victories while his ancillary numbers may continue to suffer.
