Kent Johnson tallied 57 points last season, exceeding his production from the prior two campaigns combined, when he posted 56 points in 121 total contests.  Healthy, with a role in Columbus' top-six and point spot on the first unit power play, a 30-goal, 40-assist season for the fifth pick in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft is not out of the question this season.

Columbus has several young forwards, with Johnson, the fifth overall pick in 2021, being counted on to help lead the team to the playoffs. Johnson, in year two of the three-year, $5.4 million contract he signed with the Blue Jackets in July of 2024, benefits from playing on a line line with fellow Wolverine, Adam Fantilli. He should earn a healthy extension before too long.
