Three of the four divisions are tight as a drum. The Central is the only one where a team has more than a three point lead. Currently, heading into the late games Tuesday, the top three teams in the Pacific are separated by a point.
Vegas's rough patch has narrowed the division, allowing a red-hot Seattle team and meandering Edmonton squad to narrow the gap. Lurking just behind those three squads are Los Angeles and Anaheim, both a point back, and San Jose, three points shy of the Knights and Oilers, each of whom have 46 points. Five of the six teams are in a playoff spot with Utah, Nashville, St. Louis and Chicago on their heels.
If a favorite was to be picked, Vegas looks to be the best overall squad. But that will depend on either Carter Hart finding his form or management going back to Akira Schmid until Adin Hill is healthy. Los Angeles may be the second best overall squad with Edmonton reliant on questionable netminding, even when Tristan Jarry returns from injury.
