Jasen Vinlove-USA TODAY Sports - Former Panther Trocheck Nets Double-Overtime Winner in Game 2

As the Florida Panthers trail the Boston Bruins 1-0 in the series without their second-line center Sam Bennett , a former Florida second-line center is making his presence felt in the playoffs.

Vincent Trocheck netted the double-overtime winner against the Carolina Hurricanes in Game 2 Tuesday night to give the New York Rangers a 2-0 series lead.

Trocheck has always been an extremely consistent and reliable player, but he seems to have broken out and has played like a superstar in the playoffs. Tuesday night's game-winner makes it five straight games with a goal for Trocheck.

In an incredibly heated battle with Carolina, the series serves as a "revenge" spot for Trocheck, who spent three seasons with the Hurricanes after he was traded from Florida. He is making them pay for letting him go.

In a team loaded with skillful superstars such as Artemi Panarin, Adam Fox, and Mika Zibanejad, Trocheck has proven to be a true X-factor. Along with the goals, his physicality, elite play in the face-off circle, and overall hockey IQ has set him apart thus far in the postseason. He seems to be the perfect fit on this Rangers team.

Trocheck spent 6.5 seasons with the Panthers to begin his career, tallying 282 points in 420 games. He was traded at the 2020 Trade Deadline to Carolina for Erik Haula , Eetu Luostarinen , Chase Priskie , and Lucas Wallmark . He earned an All-Star selection in 2017 and played for Team North America in the World Cup of Hockey in 2016.
