Panthers take part in training camp practice in Fort Lauderdale on Sept. 26. There is no denying that the Florida Panthers run one of the most difficult and tolling training camps in the NHL. For the past three seasons now, Panthers Head Coach Paul Maurice has put his players through an incredibly challenging and exhausting start to camp. That’s why it comes as little surprise that now, as we enter week two of training camp, there are some injures that the Panthers are dealing with. Cats center Anton Lundell did not practice and is considered day-to-day with a lower-body injury. “It’s minor, but we’re not putting him back on the ice until he’s 100%,” Panthers Head Coach Paul Maurice said of Lundell on Thursday. The plan was for Lundell to play in Florida’s home preseason game on Saturday in Sunrise, but now it’s unlikely he suits up. There is absolutely no reason for Maurice and his staff to have any player on the ice who doesn’t feel perfectly fine injury-wise. “He won’t play in that unless he can get on the ice tomorrow and give it a good go, and even with that, I’m not sure why we would do that,” Maurice said. “We’ll just look at the home game on Monday.” Image [https://thehockeynews.com/.image/c_fit,h_600,w_600/MjAwNjE3OTM2NjIzMjQ4NDky/img_6014.jpg] Forward Justin Sourdif will be out for a few weeks with an upper-body injury that also cost him around 12 stitches over his eye and on his lip. “It’s going to take him three of four weeks, I think, before he’s back in the lineup,” Maurice said. “He went into the boards hard. It looks worse on the video. He’s fortunate it was no head injury.” Sourdif suffered the injury during a camp practice earlier this week. He was expected to start the season with the AHL’s Charlotte Checkers.
