BREAKING: Kings Acquire Andrei Kuzmenko From Flyers

The Los Angeles Kings have acquired 29-year-old winger Andrei Kuzmenko from the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for a 2027 3rd round pick.

Philadelphia will also be retaining 50% of Kuzmenko's $5.5 million cap hit. He is on an expiring deal and is scheduled to be an Unrestricted Free Agent this summer. The Kings are Kuzmenko's fourth team in two seasons.

Despite his offensive struggles this season, Kuzmenko is a two-time 20-goal scorer. His finest NHL season was his first one, where he scored 39 goals and 74 points with the Vancouver Canucks two years ago. In that season, he had 14 goals on the power play – an area where the Kings are desperate for help.  The logical landing spot for Kuzmenko in the LA lineup is on the left side of Anze Kopitar and Adrian Kempe, but the Kings have the flexibility to move him up and down the top-9.

It remains to be seen if Rob Blake and the Kings are done adding to their roster, but this trade for Kuzmenko is likely in the range of what Blake is both willing to do and what he can actually do.

We'll have full Trade Deadline coverage for the LA Kings later today.
