Cole Hutson talks about his brother.
Lane Hutson was the NHL’s Rookie of the Month for December with 2 goals and 11 assists in 14 games. For a defenseman, those are some serious numbers and the accolade is well deserved. Hutson is putting himself into the Calder conversation and could be a Top Five Finalist.
Lane was at one of the early games to watch his brother Cole, in the 2025 World Junior Championship. Lane was a peak performer who took home gold and now his younger brother has a chance to do it. Cole talked about his brother after the big win over Switzerland.
“That was pretty cool. It’s definitely well-deserved. He’s one of the hardest working kids I know and hopefully there are more of those to come.”
When I asked him if he hopes to win something like that in the future, he responded with,”Hopefully, yeah.”
Lane is showing Cole the way and he may play for the Washington Capitals in the near future. Quinn is the oldest brother and he is starring at Boston University with Cole, At 23, he is averaging more than a point-per-game this season and has had double digit goals every season in college. Could he get signed as a college free agent by the Canadiens? Who knows? I’m sure they are keeping an eye on the winger. Sometimes having the other brother is a good thing even if he plays for Laval. I’ve seen Quinn play and he has been getting better each season.
