The Montreal Canadiens have tendered qualifying offers to six pending restricted free agents, which leaves two players who will become unrestricted free agents on July 1st.
Of the eight pending restricted free agents on the Montreal Canadiens roster, six of them received qualifying offers, the organization announced today: Rafael Harvey-Pinard, Jesse Ylonen, Alex Newhook, Lucas Condotta, Mitchell Stephens, and Nicolas Beaudin.
The rights to Newhook were acquired by the Canadiens earlier this week in a trade that saw Kent Hughes offer the 31st and 37th overall selections in the 2023 NHL Draft, along with defenseman Gianni Fairbrother.
Ylonen and Harvey-Pinard each spent a good portion of last season playing in Montreal, dressing for 37 and 34 games, respectively. The former, 23, tallied 16 points in that time, along with an additional 32 points in 39 games played for the Laval Rocket.
Harvey-Pinard scored 14 goals and added six assists during his time with the Canadiens last season, along with 16 goals and 15 assists in 40 games played in Laval.
Condotta capped off a season of 72 games with Laval last year, where he scored 16 goals and added 15 assists, with his NHL debut in April. He scored his first NHL goal on the same night.
Stephens, after experiencing a slightly slow start to begin his first season with the Rocket, ultimately ended up third in scoring on the team for the year with 20 goals and 21 assists for 41 points.
Beaudin, a defenseman acquired in a trade early in the year from the Chicago Blackhawks, scored two goals and tallied 24 assists with Laval.
The two players who were not extended qualifying offers, Joel Teasdale and Denis Gurianov, will become unrestricted free agents at 12:00 p.m. on July 1.
