While the 2024-25 season was a major step in the right direction for the Montreal Canadiens [https://thehockeynews.com/nhl/montreal-canadiens], it was a tough year for Habs forward Kirby Dach. In 57 games with the Canadiens on the year, he posted 10 goals, 12 assists, and a minus-29 rating. He also only recorded three assists in his final nine appearances. Dach's struggling to find consistency was not the only rough part about his season, though. Dach's 2024-25 season, unfortunately, came to an end after he underwent knee surgery in late February. As a result, it was a frustrating year in more ways than one for Dach. This was after he also had season-ending knee surgery in 2023-24, where he was limited to just two games. However, the new season will now offer Dach a clean slate to get things back on track. The Canadiens will certainly be hoping that the 24-year-old forward can get his offense up and stay healthy in 2025-26. This will be especially so if he starts the season as their second-line center. The 2019 third-overall pick has already shown earlier in his career that he can be a solid point-producer. He most notably recorded career highs with 14 goals, 24 assists, and 38 points in 58 games during his first season with Montreal, so there is no question that the 24-year-old has good potential. Nevertheless, it will be intriguing to see if Dach can bounce back after his tough 2024-25 season. If he stays healthy and regains his previous offensive form, it would be a massive boost for a Canadiens team on the rise. Photo Credit: © David Kirouac-Imagn Images
