The visitors doubled their lead early in the second period while Olivier Galipeau and William Trudeau were serving minor penalties. Nick Abruzzese was parked on the side of the net and buried a rebound. Less than three minutes later, the Marlies added to their lead with another power play goal when Joseph Blandisi tapped in a puck that trickled behind the goalie. Later in the second period, Toronto sent Kaskisuo to the showers after Josiah Slavin scored on an odd man rush that began when Justin Barron got caught in the offensive zone. Laval got on the board in the final minute of the period while being shorthanded when Jan Mysak found Philippe Maillet in the slot and the forward beat Dennis Hildeby with a wrist shot. The Marlies added another goal early in the third period when Bellows redirected a shot from the point. A disappointing result for the Rocket leaving empty handed in two games against the team they're chasing in the standings. The Marlies, that had their mentor's trip in Laval, outworked the Rocket to earn the victory. The coach stated that he felt his players were fatigued as they concluded a stretch of six games in nine days. In hindsight, he said that the workload could have been managed better.
