Danton Heinen recorded a hat trick as the Bruins cruised to a 9-4 win. Montreal opened the scoring with Cole Caufield scoring a goal for his fifth consecutive game. Caufield is now on pace for a 29-goal season. Joel Armia scored his eighth goal of the season on a next setup by Joshua Roy. It was Roy's first NHL assist. The Bruins scored three times in the opening period including two goals in the final two minutes of the frame giving the home team a one goal lead heading into the intermission. The two teams each added two goals in the second period leaving the Bruins with a one-goal lead after 40 minutes. In the third period, the wheels fell off for the Canadiens as Boston scored four unanswered goals. It was a struggle for Sam Montembeault throughout the game. Montembeault gave up eight goals on 30 shots for a .733 save percentage. In relief, Cayden Primeau allowed one goal on six shots. TD Garden has been an unfriendly territory for the Habs. The last road victory against the Bruins came on January 14, 2019.
