Former Predators Forward Impressing With New Team

Back in November, the Nashville Predators traded forward Philip Tomasino to the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for a 2027 fourth-round pick. At the time of the move, the 2019 first-round pick was struggling with the Predators, as he had just one assist in 11 games.

Tomasino struggled to find his fit with the Predators during his time with the club, so the move was not particularly surprising when it came to fruition. However, there is no question that the 23-year-old forward is benefitting from the change of scenery quite well.

Tomasino has impressed with more consistent playing time with Pittsburgh, as he has 10 goals and 20 points in 42 games with the Metropolitan Division club. However, he is only heating up more as this campaign rolls on, scoring a goal and posting four points in his last four contests.

Due to his strong play with the Penguins, Tomasino is seeing time in both Pittsburgh's top six and on their power play. Naturally, this gives the former Nashville forward more opportunities, and he is certainly taking advantage of that.

Sometimes, a fresh start can help a player tremendously, and we are seeing that with Tomasino and the Penguins. It will be interesting to see how he builds on his solid play with Pittsburgh from here.
