During the Nashville Predators' March 20 matchup against the Anaheim Ducks, Steven Stamkos scored the game-opening goal at the 7:07 mark of the first. The star forward's goal was a nice, too, as he one-timed a Filip Forsberg feed past Ducks goaltender John Gibson.
This was Stamkos' sixth goal in his last eight games and his 23rd of the season. It was also the 578th career goal of the 35-year-old's incredible career. With this, he now is 22nd on the NHL's all-time scoring list because of it, passing Hockey Hall of Famer Mark Recchi.
This is undoubtedly a fantastic achievement for Stamkos, especially when noting that Recchi is among the best players to ever play in the NHL. It took Stamkos 1,150 career games to pass Recchi on the all-time list.
Coincidentally, Stamkos and Recchi were also teammates during the former's rookie year with the Tampa Bay Lightning back in 2008-09. However, Recchi would end up being dealt to the Boston Bruins later on that season.
Nevertheless, this is a great accomplishment for Stamkos. Next up on the list on the list for Stamkos to catch is Jari Kurri, who had 601 goals in 1,251 career NHL games.
