Defenseman Mattias Ekholm Traded to Edmonton Oilers

The Predators are sending Ekholm and a sixth round pick to Edmonton

Elliotte Friedman revealed that the Nashville Predators have traded veteran defenseman Mattias Ekholm to the Edmonton Oilers. 

The deal sends Ekholm and a sixth round pick to the Oilers in exchange for Tyson Barrie, Reid Schaefer, a 2023 first round pick and a 2023 fourth round pick. 

Ekholm, a 32 year old veteran, was drafted by the Nashville Predators in the fourth round of the 2009 draft and has played 719 games for the franchise. He has scored 62 goals and 268 points in his career.

The Predators will retain 4% of Ekholm's salary which results in $250,000 through the 2025-2026 season.
