Veteran forward Gustav Nyquist signed a two year, $ 6.37 million dollar deal with the Nashville Predators. Nyquist most recently played for the Minnesota Wild after being traded from the Columbus Blue Jackets at the trade deadline. He began his career with the Detroit Red Wings where he played for 8 seasons. He was traded in 2019 to the San Jose Sharks before joining the Blue Jackets in 2020.

Nyquist played just three regular season games for the Wild as he recovered from a shoulder injury sustained on December 31. In six playoff games, Nyquist recorded five assists. In his eleven year career, the Halmstad, Sweden native has played 703 games, scored 175 goals, and recorded 428 points.

Nyquist is the third veteran added to Nashville's roster on this first day of free agency. Barry Trotz also signed Ryan O'Reilly and Luke Schenn.
