Predators Practice Report: First Look at Foudy, Forward Lines, and Having Fun

The Nashville Predators took the ice this morning at Centennial Sportsplex to kick off a week with two home games on the schedule. The team is coming off a win Saturday night over the San Jose Sharks, but there is still plenty more that Andrew Brunette wants to see from the team.

After practice Andrew Brunette was asked about is message to the players after the success in the past two games against the New York Rangers and San Jose Sharks.

"The messaging is it's part of the process. It's a little bit of that growth mindset that we're going to prove every day," Brunette said.

"We're not where we want to be. I still think we can have the puck a lot more. I think we can get back a lot faster and we can play a lot faster, so we're still working on all those things."

Today was Liam Foudy's first time on the ice after being picked up off waivers by the Predators. The former Columbus Blue Jacket is excited about getting a fresh start in Nashville.

"It's an exciting feeling all around just to get a fresh start and come to such a great organization," Foudy said after his first practice.

During practice, Brunette kept the same lines together that played against San Jose on Saturday:

    Forsberg - O'Reilly - Pärssinen

    Fagemo - Sissons - Nyquist

    Sherwood - Novak - Evangelista

    Smith - McCarron - Trenin

    (Tomasino, Foudy)

At the end of practice, Brunette has the team compete in a small space puck possession drill. While winning puck battles is an area Brunette wants to continue to see improvement in, the players also had some fun with the one-on-one drill.

After practice, Filip Forsberg commented on the drill and the enthusiasm the players have as they compete.

"I think we are [having fun]. I think that's a big part," Forsberg said.

"It's early in the season and obviously the grind is going to set in at some point, but those are the moments you gotta remember you've got to try and bring in a little bit of fun."

The Predators will hold a morning skate tomorrow before taking on the Vancouver Canucks at home at 8:15 pm CT.
