Today the NHL will announce its first 2023-2024 All Stars. Will it be Filip Forsberg who represents the Nashville Predators?
The NHL will announce their All Star picks for the 2023-2024 season today, one from each of the 32 NHL teams. The twelve remaining picks will be decided by fan vote. So which Nashville Predator will make the All Star team?
Predators fans think it will be Filip Forsberg.
In the first 38 games of the season, Forsberg has scored 18 goals and 42 points and leads the Predators in goals, assists, and points. The 29-year-old Swedish winger is tied with Edmonton's Leon Draisaitl for the eleventh most points in the league and tied with Draisaitl and Travis Konecny when it comes to goals in 2023-2024.
It's been a big season for Forsberg who is on pace to flirt with his career high in goals (42) and break his career high in both assists (42) and total points (84). November was an especially good stretch of hockey for Forsberg who scored eleven goals and 19 points in 13 games including three multi-goal games in the month.
Forsberg has flourished in Andrew Brunette's new system which focuses on puck possession, speed, and generating offensive chances. He also is playing consistent minutes with top quality line mates Ryan O'Reilly and Gustav Nyquist who are themselves having strong seasons with their new team. That Predators' trio has been a productive top line all season long. In fact, a case could be made for both O'Reilly and Nyquist to be considered for the All Star Game from Nashville.
Nyquist is currently on a six game point streak scoring five goals and nine points in his last six games. He is on pace for his best season goal total since 2017-18 with the Detroit Red Wings and set a career high in points. O'Reilly is the Predators' second leading scorer behind Forsberg and is on pace for a 32 goal season. He has already collected more points in 38 games than he had last season in his 53 games with St. Louis and Toronto.
The NHL will announce the All Star picks throughout the day today.
