As the 2023 NHL draft looms closer the trade talks heat up, one of the names generating quite a bit of buzz is Nashville's own Juuse Saros. The 28 year old Finnish net minder is drawing a lot of attention for his outstanding performance in net during a 2022-2023 season that saw many of Nashville's reliable veterans out of the lineup with injuries and a handful of young players racking up their first NHL minutes. Under those less than ideal circumstances, Saros put up some of the best advanced goaltending statistics in the league. With his skill in net, ability to steal wins, and bargain $5 million dollar AAV for two more seasons, it isn't surprising to think several teams may be picking up the phone to call David Poile and Barry Trotz. KINGS What would a trade between the Predators and Kings look like involving Juuse Saros? THE OTTAWA SENATORS The Predators may have made Alex DeBrincat's short list of teams he might be interested in talking to, but would a one-for-one deal of Saros for DeBrincat sit well? A Saros for DeBrincat deal? We aren't so sure that's in the cards. THE TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS If dealing Juuse Saros meant getting one of Toronto's "core four" - William Nylander or Mitch Marner perhaps - we would want to see done? Nashville has seen what Saros can do for a team with players setting franchise records in front of him or for a team that is starting a collection of AHL players in front of him. It would take a monumental offer to move Saros out of Music City, but there may be teams like the Maple Leafs, Senators, or Kings who could be willing to swing big for Saros.
