The New Jersey Devils will be tested Tuesday night at American Airlines Center. They will play the Dallas Stars for the second and final time this season after suffering a 4-2 loss at Prudential Center on Feb. 22.

New Jersey will be without star forward Jack Hughes, who suffered an injury against the Vegas Golden Knights on Sunday.

"The only update is that he is continuing to be evaluated," head coach Sheldon Keefe said to NJDTV regarding Hughes. "We don't know the full extent of it here yet."

The team hit the ice at 11:30 a.m. CT, and per the reporters on-site, the projected lineup against the Stars is below.

Timo Meier - Nico Hischier - Jesper Bratt

Ondrej Palat - Dawson Mercer - Tomas Tatar

Justin Dowling - Erik Haula - Stefan Noesen

Paul Cotter - Curtis Lazar - Nathan Bastian

    Luke Hughes - Dougie Hamilton

    Brett Pesce - Johnathan Kovacevic

    Brenden Dillon - Simon Nemec

    Jacob Markstrom

Over their last 10 games, the Devils have alternated wins and losses. According to that pattern, New Jersey should squeak out a win in the Lone Star State, but statistics and history would tell you otherwise.

The Stars hold an all-time home record of 35-16-9 against the Devils and have earned points in eight of their last 10 games against New Jersey (7-2-1).

Additionally, tonight's home team has earned points in nine of their last 11 games played at American Airlines Center against New Jersey (6-2-3).

With their star forward and best defenseman, Jonas Siegenthaler, out of the lineup, it will be a big task to skate off the ice at American Airlines Center with two points.

Puck drop between the Devils and Stars will be at 8:00 p.m. ET. Fans can watch on ESPN+ or Hulu or listen on the Devils Hockey Network.
