At the 2025 NHL Awards, Winnipeg Jets goaltender Connor Hellebuyck took home the Hart Memorial Trophy, which is an annual award given to the player adjudged to be the most valuable to his team.
NHL Public Relations released the 2024-25 Hart Memorial Trophy Voting, and New Jersey Devils captain Nico Hischier earned two votes.
The 26-year-old led the Devils in goals (35) and power play goals (14). He took 1,777 face-offs, which led his team, and was the second-most in the league behind Sidney Crosby. Hischier had the second-most blocked shots among forwards on the Devils behind Timo Meier and tied with Ondrej Palat for the most takeaways among forwards.
"Nico was in every position all year, and for a guy to be in as many situations as he has been in and perform the way he did is pretty insane," Paul Cotter said during his end-of-season media availability.
Hischier finished fourth in the Selke Trophy voting for the award given annually to the forward who best excels in the defensive aspects of the game. He also received a vote for the Lady Byng Memorial Trophy, given to the player adjudged to have exhibited the best type of sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct combined with a high standard of playing ability.
"I think you can always be better, but I am pretty happy about my year," Hischier said. "I did what I could to help the team. I had lots of opportunities. I was taking a lot of D-zone draws, matched up against big guys, and still created some offense. I will keep working this summer to be a better player next year."
Hischier's teammates, Jack Hughes and Jesper Bratt, also received one vote each for the Hart Trophy.
