Former New York Islanders forward Rob Schremp hopped on the mic with Stefen Rosner for a new epsiode of Hockey Night in New York to discuss his playing days, coaching career and more!
Drafted 25th overall by the Edmonton Oilers at the 2004 NHL Draft, forward Rob Schremp went on to play for three NHL franchises over a five-year career.
The Hudson, NY native spent the better part of two seasons with the New York Islanders, from 2009 to February of 2011, before being claimed off waivers by the Atlanta Thrashers.
Schremp scored 17 goals as a member of the Islanders, with one in particular standing out.
On Jan 6, 2010, while on the power play, Schremp showed off his hand-eye coordination as he caught a rebound and batted the puck out of mid-air for this highlight-reel goal:

"I remember it clear as day," Schremp shared on Hockey Night in New York. "Streiter was walking the blue line. I found a nice little spot, kind of open there. The puck went over the Frans (Nielsen) and I was kinda thinking, 'Hey, set me up for a one-timer' and he walked into a bomb. And I just watched it go on net. And while it was up, it hit perfectly off Anderson's blocker [...] and it kicked directly over his head and I'm watching this thing and at the same time and Adam Foote turned around and I'm like, I got to get this off quick..."
And that he did.
Following the 2010-11 season, Schremp elected to continue his hockey career overseas before hanging up the skates in 2018.
Despite retiring, Schremp never left hockey, as he continues to coach in Latvia.
On June 16, Locker Token, a sport NFT Token platform that supercharges the relationship teams, players, and fans have both inside and outside the stadium, announced Schremp as its Vice President of Global Relations.
"Schremp’s extensive experience and vision for the evolution of professional sports through Web3 makes him a valuable addition to the team, as the company continues to drive innovation and expand to a global level." (H/t TheNewsCrypto).
Schremp joined Hockey Night in New York to go more in depth on his new job, his fondest memories of Long Island, what he thinks could help the Islanders power play and more!
