Defenseman Alexander Romanov is likely to miss his third straight game with an upper-body injury when the New York Islanders battle the Columbus Blue Jackets on Wednesday night.

The 24-year-old, who missed their 6-3 loss to the Florida Panthers and their 3-1 loss to the Anaheim Ducks, remains day-to-day with an upper-body injury.

Dennis Cholowski, who has filled in for Romanov, playing on the third defense pairing with Scott Mayfield, played 11:18 against Florida but only 7:01 against Anaheim.

Mike Reilly skated with Romanov's usual partner, Noah Dobson.

Romanov's injury stems from their 4-3 overtime win against the New Jersey Devils last Friday after he got lit up by forward Kurtis MacDermid:

We were told that he is not dealing with a concussion and that he hasn't suffered any type of setback.

The Islanders are 0-2-0 without him in the lineup.
