Brock Nelson took part in Team USA's first practice ahead of their first game against Team Sweden on Thursday.

New York Islanders forward Brock Nelson is in Montreal with Team USA ahead of the start of the NHL's 4 Nations Face-Off.

Nelson skated on USA's fourth line, rotating with New York Rangers forwards Vincent Trocheck and Chris Kreider, along with Detroit Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin:

Nelson played a bit of left-wing last season as Islanders head coach Patrick Roy tried to find the best combinations. That was the first time Nelson had played left wing in his NHL career.

While Nelson is a top-six forward, he has the ability to play a bottom-six role, given his strong hockey IQ and skating ability. He will likely be relied upon as a penalty-killer as well at points during this tournament.

The Americans will battle Sweden for their first game on Thursday night at 8 PM ET on ESPN.
