The Islanders have won two in a row for just the third time this season.

The New York Islanders put for their strongest performance of the season on Thursday night, defeating the red-hot Vegas Golden Knights 4-0 at T-Mobile Arena.

Brock Nelson snapped a 17-game goal drought. Anders Lee scored in his 800th NHL game. Bo Horvat scored for the third time in two games and Alexander Romanov recorded three assists for seven over his last eight games.

Oh, and Ilya Sorokin turned aside all 30 shots for his second shutout of the season and first since Nov. 30 against the Buffalo Sabres.

    Here's how things went down:

The Golden Knights thought they had taken a 1-0 lead on the power play, but after a Patrick Roy challenge, Tomas Hertl's slot one-timer came off the board due to offside earlier in the shift.

That challenge allowed the Islanders to score first when Anders Lee buried his 19th of the season in career game No. 800. After Brock Nelson picked off an outlet pass, he found Lee, who spun around and beat Vegas goaltender Adin Hill through the wickets:

The Islanders carried their first-period momentum into the second frame.

At 5:30 of the second, Romanov intercepted a pass before he fed Mathew Barzal on the rush. Once over the Vegas blue line, Barzal chipped a saucer pass to Brock Nelson, who beat Hill glove side from the slot to snap a 17-game goal drought:

Then, it was Bo Horvat finding the back of the net for his 13th of the season after Kyle Palmieri found him from below the goal line in the low slot after a Romanov keep-in:

A power-play goal would have been the icing on the cake in this one.

The Islanders were unable to score on the man advantage in the third period and are now 11-for-101 on the season and have no goals on their last 21 opportunities.

Casey Cizikas beat out an icing and scored an empty-net goal at 17:26 of the third for the 4-0 final.
