Here's what Islanders head coach Patrick Roy said about the UBS Arena faithful.
EAST MEADOW, NY -- While the New York Islanders ran up the score on the Tampa Bay Lightning, the UBS Arena faithful were loving every moment of it.
Late in the third period, the Islanders crowd started a "Patrick Roy" chant, which echoed around Elmont.
At Friday's practice, The Hockey News asked the Islanders' new bench boss what that meant to him.
"I didn't hear that. But if they did, I mean, I want them to know that I love them just as much," Roy said. "What I do like about these fans is they're heart people. And you could tell they're pissed when we don't work. And when we work, they love us. And I think it's pretty simple what they expect from our team, and if we could give them shows like we did last night, I'm sure we’re gonna get even more fans, you know?
"I'm very lucky to be part of this adventure, I would say that."

Roy and the Islanders have won two straight games, with a 3-2 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Monday before a 6-2 domination of the Tampa Bay Lightning on Thursday.
The Islanders host the Calgary Flames on Saturday at 1 PM ET.
