Engvall had one goal in six games with Bridgeport.
ELMONT, NY -- New York Islanders general manager Lou Lamoriello didn't mince words when discussing Pierre Engvall.
"We certainly weren't happy with Pierre, to be perfectly honest, of what we feel he can bring," Lamoriello said. "We want him to bring that because we know that he can help us in that lineup. He is an NHL player, without question.
When asked if Engvall not making the team out of training camp was a way to give him a wake-up call, the answer from Lamoriello was "absolutely".
"There are certain elements that each player has to bring, and we know what he can bring. He's gotta bring it every night. And we want a lineup that we can solidify. There's no question. You can see, people who've been watching each and every game in different spots, whether they be 11 and 12 in the lineup, we've been having different players in there.
Lamoriello continued:
"We want somebody to come forward, somebody that we can trust night in and night out. Patrick and I speak every single day or on the exact same page as far as anything that transpires and how we do things."
The 29-year-old forward, who landed on waivers on Oct. 6, is in the second season of a seven-year deal worth $3 million annually.
