Islanders Fall to Red Wings 4-3 in Overtime The 2024 NHL Stadium Series at MetLife Stadium is just over three months away. On Wednesday, before the NHL's press conference surrounding the event, the league took another step toward the event by unveiling the event's logo. The league had been using a word mark to promote the event before the reveal. The logo features various touches honoring New Jersey, the event's host, and the history of the Stadium Series. The obvious touch is the outline of the state in the middle of the logo, but the nods continue throughout. The top of the logo depicts MetLife Stadium's exterior, as well as the NHL logo. Down the middle, a typographic "Stadium Series" split between bold and handmade letters that, according to the NHL, shows what the event is all about. In the NHL's release, the league said, "The custom type features a progressive, larger-than-life sharp and bold-rising effect, invoking the futuristic feel of the Stadium Series brand. The custom handmade freestyle script adds to the modern and free-flowing style of the event." The Devils also donned green in their early days, so it's a callback to their history as well. Tickets went on sale for both Stadium Series games on Wednesday. None of the teams unveiled specialty uniforms at the press conference, they will likely be unveiled in early 2024. “I think it's incredible. Certainly, there's nostalgia for me being right next door for so many years, but to have a venue like this, and for all the players and their families, as I mentioned, it's just exciting," Islanders president and general manager Lou Lamoriello said. "It's just the part of the game that takes away the competition and puts it in an environment where everybody just feels so good about each other.” Heading outside is one thing. Playing an arch-rival is another, something the Islanders did back in 2014, a 2-1 loss for Long Island to the Rangers. "No matter where we play each other, whether it's this venue, the rivarly will be there, and that's what's great about the game. The Jets and Giants, you saw that the other day, so that's what sports is all about.”
