Evander Kane Releases Statement As Oilers Trade Him To Canucks
Evander Kane is headed to the Vancouver Canucks.
New Flyers head coach Rick Tocchet should be feeling pretty good about his decision to leave Vancouver right now.
On Wednesday, the Canucks traded a 2025 fourth-round pick for Evander Kane, taking on his full $5.125 million cap hit for two more years.
Kane, who turns 34 in August, has scored 40 points only once in the past four seasons, including the entire regular season he just missed due to injury.
Even in today's market, the Canucks can probably find other ways to spend $5 million than on an aging, injury-prone player with tons of locker room and off-ice baggage.
Now, Tocchet gets to coach a critically acclaimed locker room on an up-and-coming Flyers team, rather than one that's rearranging chairs on the sinking Titanic like the Canucks.
