As it turns out, former Pittsburgh Penguin and, now, two-time Stanley Cup Champion Jordan Staal set a few records after he and the Carolina Hurricanes were ordained champs on Sunday.

For one, Staal became the oldest player in NHL history to be awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy for playoff MVP with his six-goal, seven-point Stanley Cup Final performance. In addition, the 17 years between when Staal first won the Cup as a member of the Penguins in 2009 and winning in 2026 with the Canes is the longest span for a player in NHL history.

So, Staal may have gotten some all-time recognition for, essentially, being old. But, hey, no better way for that to happen than while lifting Lord Stanley's Cup again, eh?

Where does Staal rank in terms of centers in Penguins' history for you? Let us know below!
