In the third period of the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-3 loss to the Vancouver Canucks, the Penguins lost Bryan Rust to an apparent lower-body injury after an awkward collision with Nils Hoglander along the boards.

When play stopped, Rust managed to get up on his own but did not put any weight on his right leg as a linesman assisted him to the Penguins bench. Instead of going straight down the tunnel, he engaged angrily with Hoglander before departing the game and entering the dressing room.

Although there have been no further updates on his condition, the Penguins announced that he would be out for the remainder of the contest.

In the second period, Rust tallied his third goal of the season on a wrap-around, giving Pittsburgh a 2-0 lead. He finished the night with 13:18 of ice time over 18 shifts.

Since the Penguins will travel back to Pittsburgh, the media and fans may not get an update until they land and the medical staff can re-evaluate him at home.

Stay tuned for any further updates and potential lineup changes ahead of the Penguins' next game on Tuesday against the Minnesota Wild.
