The Pittsburgh Penguins were big fans of one of best contestants in Jeopardy! history.
If you had to guess what plays on TV in an NHL locker room, surely your answer would be NHL Network, or ESPN, or even the Gold Channel; not the Pittsburgh Penguins.
According to one of game show’s all-time greats, James Holzauer says the Penguins will have Jeopardy! on in the locker room.
During a recent episode of the Jeopardy! Masters Tournament, Holzauer talked about how big of a hockey fan he is and of an interaction he had with Sidney Crosby.
Holzauer said that while he was at the NHL Awards in 2019, he noticed the Penguins’ captain backstage but didn’t know how to approach him.
Crosby, however, was the one that approached Holzauer and said that he and the Penguins were huge fans and were watching his games in the locker room.
It was a surreal moment for Holzauer and host Ken Jennings biggest takeaway is that Jeopardy! Is being played in NHL locker rooms.
Holzauer took pop culture by storm in the summer of 2019 when he went on a 32-game winning streak on Jeopardy! and broke the single-game earnings record multiple times.
In total, Holzauer won nearly $2.5 million over his streak.
