After missing a good portion of 2023, Ryan Poehling is set to return to the Pittsburgh Penguins' roster.
The Pittsburgh Penguins have activated forward Ryan Poehling from long-term injured reserve after taking line rushes on the fourth line of the full-team morning skate.
Poehling has been out of the Penguins’ lineup since their 6-0 loss to the Los Angeles Kings dealing with an upper-body injury.
The nagging injury has been hampering Poehling for the better part of 2023, but he’s slowly been working his way back.
Poehling has been a regular participant in skates and practices and has been a useful piece to the Penguins’ fourth line this season.
In 38 games played this year, Poehling has produced five goals and six assists for 11 points.
Along with elevating Poehling, the Penguins have also updated Alex Nylander’s recall status.
Nylander was originally an emergency recall from the AHL, but has been labeled as a regular recall.
By making Nylander’s recall regular, the Penguins now have two standard recalls left for the remainder of the season.
In four games at the NHL level this season, Nylander has impressed the Penguins; it hasn’t relayed into high production, but he’s been a great addition.
Nylander only has an assist to his name, but has been playing with Evgeni Malkin and Jason Zucker on the second line.
