A newcomer to the Pittsburgh Penguins locker room left the OTW early with a lower-body injury.
PITTSBURGH - Dmitry Kulikov was a noticeable absence in the third period of the Pittsburgh Penguins overtime victory over the New York Rangers.
The Penguins were forced to finish the last 15 minutes of regulation and the entirety of overtime down a defender.
Following the win, head coach Mike Sullivan stated that Kulikov was being evaluated for a lower body injury.
Sullivan noted that he didn’t have any further specific details than that.
Rickard Rakell missed a few shifts after blocking a shot, but he returned to the contest and stated that he was all good following the game.
The win over the Rangers was only Kulikov’s fourth game with the Penguins; Kulikov has been in the lineup in place of P.O. Joseph.
In his three games with the Penguins, Kulikov has recorded a single assist.
