Pittsburgh Penguins RW Bryan Rust is looking to find more consistency this season. The Pittsburgh Penguins are three days into their training camp for the 2023-24 season and while you shouldn’t set anything in stone, the lineup seems to be coming together pretty quickly. Following the third day of camp, the Penguins will play split-squad games against the Columbus Blue Jackets and soon after that, cuts to the roster are likely to start getting made. Camp battles will be ongoing until the regular season arrives, but chemistry is already being built in every area of the roster. The Penguins have done a good job of rotating names around the lineup, getting just about everyone some ice time with each other. In no particular order and with rotations, this is how the forward lines have formed. Vinnie Hinostroza – Sidney Crosby – Bryan Rust Reilly Smith – Evgeni Malkin – Andreas Johnsson Drew O’Connor – Lars Eller – Rickard Rakell Matt Nieto – Noel Acciari – Jeff Carter Sam Houde – Jonathan Gruden – Austin Rueschhoff Corey Andonovski – Colin White – Matt Filipe Radim Zohorna – Sam Poulin – Valtteri Puustinen Matthew Soto – Evan Vierling – Avery Hayes Jagger Joshua – Brayden Yager – Marc Johnstone Austin Wagner, Dillon Hamaliuk, and Peter Abbandonato have been rotating around the forward group. The defense has seen a ton of rotations on just about every line, but a rough set of pairs have been: Ryan Graves – Kris Letang Marcus Pettersson – Erik Karlsson P.O. Joseph – Mark Friedman Ty Smith – Taylor Fedun Isaac Belliveau – Andre Anania Xavier Ouellet – Mark Pysyk Dmitri Samorukov – Jack St. Ivany Justin Lee – Libor Hajek Tristan Jarry is the clear set starting goalie for the Penguins and Alex Nedeljkovic has been spoken highly of as the backup option at the NHL level. Injured players have been skating prior to each practice and are progressing at their own rate. Jake Guentzel Owen Pickering Raivis Ansons Will Butcher Nolan Collins The Penguins entered camp with 58 names and soon enough that number will start to shrink. Cuts are expected to start being made following the split squad games against the Blue Jackets.
